Book Design for artist Giacomo Santiago Rogado, ”In-Between Things” 2013, Motto Distribution

I love the idea of making a cover a simple type ‘illustration’. In many ways I feel it brings more imagination to the whole publication. This publication in-particular experiments with type setting in both shape and orientation but also plays with colour and texture. This is something that I wish to bring into my publication. A mix of imagination, orientation and colour.

Windows-based typography.

Although this is type, the idea of almost glitch-ing reminds me of the visual illusion in the Lacrosse and some others I have posted, where a striped acrylic runs across an image to make an animation.

Glitch-ing is also something I associate with Frankenstein. In some ways Frankenstein’s monster is a ‘glitch-ed’ human.

As a group of work this project works really well. By having it all together the work has a unity and look and feel as one.

An almost installation publication. I like the way the text and content flow and connect so well.

Really clever use of binding here. It creates a whole new element within the design. Taking an aspect of functionality and turning it into something much more could be something to look into throughout future work. I wonder if it would be possible to spell frankenstein unbound within the binding? Probably isn’t as catchy as “BOOM”…

outstanding find Galen. is the thread photoluminescent/phosphorous?
